We take pride in creating high quality, hemp-derived products you can trust. Amidst the noise and laughter of friends and family sharing food and swapping Potted Earth was born. Tony along with friends remembered the negative impact marijuana prohibition had on the communities growing up. Living in poverty was hard enough. It was even harder watching the fates of high school friends sealed by being caught and thrown in jail for non-violent marijuana possession charges. Sam brought a different perspective. Growing up in a middle-class suburb, marijuana was a gateway drug to failure. Respectable people didn’t spend their free time “smoking pot”. Although we came from different backgrounds with different experiences, we all wanted to change the conversation about marijuana. We talked about how legalizing marijuana could be an economic stimulate, creating new jobs through the growing, processing, and selling of it. We all talked about how much money could be raised for social programs by taxing marijuana sales. And, of course, we talked about how cool it would be to legally share a joint, just like we might grab a beer with friends. The more we talked about it, the more sense it made to legalize marijuana. Why, we wondered, hadn’t Oregonians voted yes? By 2014 the tides had turned. Voters overwhelmingly approved Measure 91 to tax and regulate cannabis sales. We seized the once-in a lifetime chance to get in on the ground floor of an emerging industry, and Potted Earth was born. We believe the use of recreational cannabis should be a fun, safe, and stress- free experience. Our combined backgrounds in medical marijuana and organic chemistry give us the expertise and skills needed to grow the highest quality cannabis that delivers the right high every time. We also believe our industry has a role to play in solving problems facing low- income communities. Potted Earth invests a portion of our profits in youth education and mentor-ship programs that break the cycles of poverty.
